Middle School Programs - Exercise for the Body and Mind
Concord Bike Tours offers a unique and fun learning experience for middle school students with spring and summer sessions.
Bike and Write is our spring and fall session for current 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Bike Hike is our summer session for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
Both programs offer young people
healthy physical activity and creative artistic expression through appreciation of the history, culture and nature of Concord.

| Program Description: |
Bike and Write is a four week course. Each week we explore a different route through the town with rides tailored to the fitness
levels of participants. Each trip has a particular theme with individual and
group writing activities related to the theme.
Themes include:
Week 1: "About the bike and nature"
Week 2: "Rail Trail"
Week 3: "Art and Architecture"
Week 4: "History"
Themes are subject to change. |

middle school library bus. |

Concord Bike Tours will provide writing
journals, bikes, helmets, water bottles and snacks. Participants may bring their
own bikes and helmets, but they must be delivered to the library parking lot on
Stow St. |

| Bike Hike |
| Program Description: |
Bike Hike explores a different route through Concord each day with rides tailored to the fitness levels of the cyclists. Every ride has a particular
theme and will include individual and group activities related to the theme.
You can sign up for one day or as many as you’d like. |
| Sample Weekly Schedule: |
Monday: – Tour Concord Conservation land with stops at the Thoreau Birth House,
Gaining Ground and the garden at the Old Manse. On to Carlisle for an ice cream treat.
Tuesday: – Off to Lincoln to explore the grounds of the Decordova Art Museum, and
the Codman House. Cool off at Walden Pond.
Wednesday: – Explore the abandoned rail trail behind Great Meadows and continue
to the Bedford Rail trail. Lunch in Lexington today!
Thursday: – From Monument Square to Sleepy Hollow to the National Park Trail we’ll use
art and architecture to weave together the threads of Concord history.
Friday: – We will use our GPS system to locate *hidden* treasures around town. There is so much to see, find, and discover!

$50.00/day. $200 for 5 consecutive days. |
